A world map hangs on a wall of AAA Member Patricia C.’s den. It’s covered with dozens of colored pins, each marking a place she’s visited.

“I’ve explored this extraordinary world by embarking on two world cruises, in 2016 and 2018,” Patricia says. World cruises typically last about four months and, depending on the cruise line and itinerary, stop in 40 to 50 ports of call.

“Cruises are a great opportunity to interact with new people, cultures, and countries, and to taste new foods and drinks,” she says. “I’ve spent a half day in a quaint, old fishing village in Hong Kong, with the remainder of the day in modern Hong Kong with its magical lights of red and gold. The colorful Rose City of Petra in Jordan dates back to the fourth century B.C. and is absolutely breathtaking. I’ve crossed the oceans to visit amazing places such as Africa, Antarctica, Italy, Dubai, Singapore and the United States—truly dreams come true.

“The Australian people I met were so full of spirit. They just embrace life, and they’re fun to be with. In the Philippines, I found a culture of faith, patience, warmth and love. You want to take their attitude and put it in a bottle. Sharing my experiences with children and hearing their dreams for the future and positive attitudes gives me encouragement for our world.”

The pandemic may have paused her travels, but Patricia says she won’t let it stop her passion to see the world. She’ll be back for more adventures when the time is right.
