The fresh air of a remote hike, a fishing expedition or a kayaking adventure may be calling. But with those experiences comes an increased risk of injury. And that’s where a new Global Rescue service developed for AAA can help—offering peace of mind when you’re off the beaten path, in the same way that your AAA Membership provides confidence on the road.

Worldwide Lifeline™ offers emergency medical assistance and more. Because Global Rescue developed Worldwide Lifeline™ for AAA, you have access to coverage available only to AAA Members—covering you anywhere in the world. Read our FAQ to see if this travel aid is right for you.

What specific services does Worldwide Lifeline™ include?

Emergency field rescue. If you face a serious medical emergency, such as illness or injury, and you’re unable to get to help on your own (e.g., if you’re in an area too remote for local emergency officials), Worldwide Lifeline™will rescue you no matter where you are in the world—close to home or far away—and take you to the nearest appropriate care facility.

Emergency evacuation. If you require medical evacuation and you’ve been hospitalized as an inpatient for five days or more 100+ miles from home and are cleared to fly by a doctor, Global Rescue will arrange and pay for your transportation home once you’re discharged from the hospital. Their fully deployable medical teams also have unparalleled capabilities to transport members from anywhere in the world. Global Rescue provides the finest integrated medical, security, travel risk and crisis management services available anywhere, delivered by their teams of critical care paramedics, physicians, nurses and military special operations veterans.

Medical advisory services. Not every health concern you encounter requires emergency evacuation. If you just need medical information or advice, you can get 24/7/365 remote access to experienced medical professionals if you’re more than 100 miles from home. These nurses and paramedics are on standby to answer questions and provide advice on treatment. Global Rescue’s medical advisory and evacuation services include exclusive relationships with the Johns Hopkins Department of Emergency Medicine Division of Special Operations, Elite Medical Group and Partners HealthCare.

Access to the My Global Rescue mobile app. Browse destination reports and alerts, activate emergency assistance, engage in real-time virtual health visits and more.

Urgent telehealth access. For even more convenience, you can get real-time video access to telehealth consultations with a physician from the Elite Medical Group (additional fees apply).

24/7/365 traveler assistance. Get help with local health care systems, visa and passport issues, translation, legal locators and real-time event alerts any time you’re more than 100 miles from home.

Destination reports. Access information for 215 countries and principalities worldwide with entry requirements, COVID-19 travel status and restrictions, detailed health and security assessments, and required immunizations.

Is Worldwide Lifeline™ the same as travel insurance?

No—but the two services do complement each other. Travel insurance helps protect your investment in a vacation by reimbursing covered nonrefundable payments if you must cancel a trip for certain reasons. Most travel insurance plans include reimbursement for emergency medical care, travel delay expenses, lost baggage or personal items, and more. These are not things Worldwide Lifeline™ does. However, it offers benefits that travel insurance typically doesn’t, such as field rescue and telehealth services.
